We are always working to improve our Total Vu software to make it the best operator interface available, but without sacrificing its ability to integrate with other data systems. Total Vu has long been able to take inputs from devices other than our laser and ultrasonic measurement tools, such as analog inputs from temperature or pressure transducers and load sensors, or serial inputs from other controllers.
Total Vu is compliant with OPC (Object Linking and Embedding for Process Control). OPC bridges industrial automation devices and Windows applications. Using OPC, the data collected by Total Vu can be shared with other applications and PLCs. OPC can be used to remotely control actions and certain configuration within the Total Vu software and now we have added the ability to read and write Attribute values via OPC.
Attributes, a feature in Total Vu software, enable users to keep track of various characteristics of a production process, including order information, setup details, off-line measurements and event counts.
What this new OPC capability means is that users can integrate other data into Total Vu software via commercial packages such as WonderWare, RSView, Labview, or your proprietary applications. Measurement values can be brought into Total Vu through a simple, standard software protocol. And because OPC can transmit via Ethernet, data can be brought in from across a network.
With this improvement, Total Vu software can now accept input from laser scan micrometers, RS232, OPC, analog input, and from the operator's themselves via the keyboard and mouse.
